Deudin vs Splid

Deudin vs Splid: the honest comparison

Splid is philosophically the closest app to Deudin: fully offline groups, members are just names, no sign-up. Its gaps are the web — there is no web version, the top user request — plus non-real-time sync that can leave devices disagreeing, and paid unlocks for unlimited groups (iOS) and Excel export. Deudin shares the no-accounts, offline philosophy and adds what Splid lacks: it runs anywhere a browser runs, syncs in real time, and everything is free.

If you've used Splid on a trip, you already understand Deudin's worldview: the group's ledger should work in airplane mode, and your uncle shouldn't need an account to owe you money. Splid proved that model in the travel niche — natively, on iOS and Android.

Deudin takes the same model to the platform Splid skipped: the web. There's nothing to install unless you want to (it's an installable PWA), the laptop is as first-class as the phone, and sync is real-time — the two-devices-two-truths problem Splid users report doesn't have room to happen.

Choose Deudin if…

  • Someone in the group lives on a laptop — Splid has no web version at all.
  • You want everyone's device showing the same numbers, now — sync is real-time.
  • You want per-currency balances instead of automatic conversion.
  • You want spending stats, or you're importing an old group from Splitwise.

Splid is the better choice if…

  • You want a native iOS/Android app rather than a web app.
  • You need PDF or Excel export today.
  • You want automatic conversion across 150+ currencies.
  • Your group already runs on Splid and it works — switching has a cost too.

Questions, answered

Both work without accounts — what's actually different?+

The platform and the sync. Splid is native mobile with no web version and non-real-time sync; Deudin is web-native (works on any device with a browser, installable as a PWA) with real-time sync.

Can I use Deudin without installing anything?+

Yes — that's the default. Open it in a browser and it works. "Add to Home Screen" is optional and gets you an icon, a standalone window, offline and push.

How does Deudin handle currencies vs Splid?+

Splid converts everything using exchange rates. Deudin keeps each currency separate and you settle per currency — no rate nobody agreed on.

Can I move a Splid group into Deudin?+

Not automatically — Splid's export is PDF/Excel and Deudin's importer reads Splitwise CSVs. The practical path: record your current net balances as opening entries in a new Deudin group.

The offline, no-accounts model — now with a web version.

Create a group in your browser right now. Nothing to install, nobody to sign up.
